Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the digital products and services of Ongi.News, including the website www.ongi.news, its subdomains, mobile sites and any mobile applications (together, the “Site” or “Services”).
The Site is owned and operated by Ongi Digital Venture LLP, a limited liability partnership incorporated under the laws of India, with its registered office at 109, A Shridhar Athens, Shivranjani Cross Roads, Satellite Road, Ahmedabad 380015, Gujarat, India (“Ongi”, “we”, “us”, “our”).
By accessing or using the Site, you (“you”, “User”) agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
1. Scope of Services
1.1 Ongi publishes news, analysis, opinion and commentary on politics, public policy, governance, economy, society, culture and related subjects (“Ongi Content”).
1.2 We may offer additional features from time to time, such as comment sections and other interactive features. Such features may carry their own additional terms, which apply together with these Terms.
2. Changes to these Terms
2.1 We may change these Terms, our Privacy Policy, or any part of the Services at any time. Changes take effect when posted on this page, unless stated otherwise.
2.2 It is your responsibility to review these Terms periodically. Continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the revised Terms.
2.3 We may modify, suspend or discontinue any part of the Services.
3. Eligibility, Accounts and Security
3.1 You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or to use interactive features. Users under 18 may read Ongi Content only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian, and any registration must be made under that parent’s or guardian’s account.
3.2 Some features (such as commenting) may require registration. You agree to provide true, accurate, current and complete information when you register, and to keep it updated.
3.3 You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity under your account. Do not share your account or allow others to use it.
3.4 Tell us immediately at onginews@gmail.com if you suspect unauthorised use of your account. We will take reasonable steps to help, but we do not guarantee recovery of your account or its content.
3.5 If we reasonably believe your account is being misused or is being used in breach of these Terms, we may suspend or terminate it, block access from specific IP addresses, or take other action, with or without notice.
4. Intellectual Property
4.1 Unless otherwise stated, all rights, title and interest in the Site and Ongi Content, including text, photographs, graphics, audio, video, software, databases, trademarks, logos and design, belong to Ongi Digital Venture LLP or its licensors, and are protected by Indian and international law.
4.2 You may not use any framing technique to enclose any Ongi trademark, logo or proprietary material, and may not remove or conceal any copyright, trademark or other proprietary notice.
4.3 Nothing in these Terms transfers any ownership in Ongi Content to you.
5. Limited Licence for Personal Use
5.1 Subject to these Terms, Ongi grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and view Ongi Content for your personal, non-commercial use.
5.2 Except as expressly permitted in writing by Ongi or as stated in clause 5.3, you must not download, copy, reproduce, store, modify, translate, adapt, publish, distribute, broadcast, sell, license or otherwise exploit any Ongi Content, in whole or in part.
5.3 You may print or save limited extracts of Ongi Content for personal, non-commercial reference, provided you do not alter the content or remove any attribution or copyright notice.
5.4 Republication, syndication, or re-use of Ongi Content on any other website, app, platform or publication requires our prior written permission. Requests may be sent to onginews@gmail.com.
5.5 If you link to Ongi Content, you may link to the article URL on the Site. You may not frame or embed Ongi Content in a way that prevents the reader from reaching the Site, or that presents our material as your own.
5.6 Nothing in these Terms is intended to restrict any use that is permitted by applicable law without the rights holder’s permission, including applicable copyright exceptions. Crediting Ongi is not a substitute for permission where permission is required.
6. User Content
6.1 The Site may allow you to submit comments, posts, images, feedback or other material (“User Content”).
6.2 You remain solely responsible for your User Content. By submitting it, you represent and warrant that:
• (a) you own it or have all rights, licences, consents and permissions needed to submit it;
• (b) it does not infringe any third party’s intellectual property, privacy or publicity rights, or violate any law;
• (c) every identifiable person in any image, audio or video has consented to its use, to the extent required by law.
6.3 You grant Ongi Digital Venture LLP a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display, reproduce, adapt and distribute your User Content on the Site and our associated platforms, and to keep archived copies, for the operation of the Site and Ongi’s journalism. You may ask us to remove your User Content, and we will consider each request in line with applicable law and our Privacy Policy.
6.4 Ongi is not responsible for the views expressed in User Content and does not endorse them. We may, but are not obliged to, review, edit, moderate or remove any User Content at our discretion, including content that we consider unlawful, defamatory, infringing or otherwise in breach of these Terms.
7. Prohibited Conduct
7.1 You agree not to use the Site or Services:
• (a) for any unlawful purpose or in breach of these Terms;
• (b) to post, transmit or share content that is defamatory, obscene, pornographic, paedophilic, hateful, racially or ethnically objectionable, invasive of another’s privacy, threatening, harassing, or that promotes violence or criminal activity;
• (c) to post content that threatens the sovereignty, integrity, defence, security or public order of India, or friendly relations with foreign states, or that incites an offence;
• (d) to impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with anyone;
• (e) to upload viruses, malware or any code designed to disrupt or damage any system;
• (f) to attempt unauthorised access to the Site, other accounts, or any system or network connected to the Site, including through hacking or password mining;
• (g) to launch denial-of-service attacks or any similar attack on the Site;
• (h) to send unsolicited bulk communications, spam, chain letters or unauthorised advertising through any feature of the Site;
• (i) to collect personal information about other users without their consent;
• (j) to infringe any copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret or other proprietary right.\7.2 Automated access, scraping and AI use. Without our prior written permission, you must not:
• (a) use any robot, spider, crawler, scraper, or other automated means to access, copy or extract Ongi Content, except search-engine indexing carried out in line with our robots.txt file;
• (b) use Ongi Content, in whole or in part, to train, fine-tune, evaluate or otherwise develop any artificial intelligence, machine learning or language model, or to generate content that reproduces or summarises our articles at scale;
• (c) build a database or archive of Ongi Content by systematic downloading or storage;
• (d) circumvent any technical measure we use to control access to or copying of the Site.
7.3 Permission for search-engine indexing does not, by itself, grant permission to use Ongi Content for AI model training, bulk republication or the operation of a separate content-generation service.
7.4 Ongi may remove content, disable accounts, and report unlawful activity to the relevant authorities, as required by law or as we consider necessary.
8. Third-Party Content, Advertising and Links
8.1 The Site may contain advertisements, sponsored content, embedded material and links to third-party websites or services (“Third-Party Content”).
8.2 Sponsored content is labelled as such. Ongi does not endorse Third-Party Content and is not responsible for its accuracy, availability, content, or the practices of any third party.
8.3 Your dealings with third parties, including transactions and data sharing, are solely between you and them.
9. Privacy
Our collection and use of personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy, available on this Site. Where consent is required by applicable law, we will request it separately for the relevant purpose. Acceptance of these Terms does not, by itself, constitute consent to optional marketing, personalised advertising or other processing that requires separate consent.
10. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Ongi Digital Venture LLP, its partners, employees, affiliates, licensors and service providers from third-party claims, losses, liabilities and reasonable legal costs to the extent caused by your unlawful conduct, your User Content that infringes third-party rights, or your material breach of these Terms. We will notify you of any such claim and give you a reasonable opportunity to participate in its defence.
11. Disclaimers
11.1 The Site and Ongi Content are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
11.2 We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free, or that information on it is complete or fit for any particular purpose.
11.3 Ongi Content is for general information only. It is not professional, legal, financial, medical or investment advice. Consult a qualified professional before acting on it.
12. Limitation of Liability
12.1 To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ongi is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of profit, revenue, data or goodwill, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Site or Services.
12.2 Ongi is not liable for temporary unavailability, suspension, interruption or loss of data.
12.3 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, or restricts any non-waivable statutory right or remedy.
13. Suspension and Termination
13.1 We may suspend or terminate your access to all or part of the Site, with or without notice, if you breach these Terms or the Privacy Policy, if required by law or a government authority, or for technical or security reasons.
13.2 You may close your account at any time by writing to onginews@gmail.com. We may keep information that we are required to retain by law, as set out in our Privacy Policy.
13.3 Clauses that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, indemnity, disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law) will continue to apply.
14. Use from outside India
The Site is operated from India. If you access it from elsewhere, you do so on your own initiative and are responsible for complying with local laws. Access is prohibited where the Services are unlawful.
15. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Ahmedabad shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms, the Site or the Services.
16. General
16.1 Entire agreement: These Terms and the Privacy Policy form the entire agreement between you and Ongi on this subject.
16.2 No waiver: A delay or failure by Ongi in enforcing any right does not waive that right.
16.3 Severability: If any provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the rest of these Terms remain in effect.
16.4 Assignment: You may not assign these Terms. Ongi may assign them to an affiliate or in connection with a merger, acquisition, restructuring or sale of its business.

17.2 We will acknowledge your complaint and respond within the timelines required under applicable law.
17.3 A copyright complaint should include:
• (a) your name and contact details;
• (b) identification of the copyrighted work you claim is infringed;
• (c) the URL or location of the material on the Site;
• (d) a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the owner, its agent or the law;
• (e) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are authorised to act for the owner;
• (f) your physical or electronic signature.
